This is an introductory class to the process of screen printing.
Class Description
This introductory class teaches the process of screen printing, requiring no previous experience. You'll learn how to: -Create film positives from artwork created in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Corel Draw -Expose the film positive to a photo emulsion on a screen stretched to a frame -Process the image to create a reverse stencil of the artwork -Set up a 6-color press, prepare ink, and print on t-shirts or posters -Cure and dry prints for a finished product Note: This class covers spot colors limited to one color (letters and images, no gradients or halftones). More advanced techniques will be taught in future classes. Requirements: Artwork must be sent 72 hours in advance for format and size checks After the class, you can join the makerspace to continue learning and creating more items. Monthly memberships provide access to professional-level equipment without the need for a personal investment. The screen printing studio within the makerspace includes: -Hopkins Convertible 6/6 screen printer press with micro's all heads down -WorkHorse Mach Screen Press 4/4 with micro's -Black Body flash dryer -Hix 36" x 10' 6 platen dryer for Plastisol, Waterbase or discharege printing -Complete dark room for high-resolution screens: -Amerigraph Mercury vapor exposure unit 3000 watt -Olec Olite large exposure unit (72" x 48") 5000 watt -Newman Rollermaster 7700 frame tensioning table -M&R Daytona Automatic automatic Press (posters) -Drying rack, washout booth, reclamation dip tank, drying cabinet -Epson Artisan 1430 film positive printer with all black inks -Geo Knight Heat Press, Stahl Hotronix Cap press, Practix dual station semi-automatic heat press -Dye Sublimation T-shirts or poster prints are not included in the class cost. Bring your own or request sizes and colors in advance. This fun and informative workshop teaches you how to create tribal art on t-shirts and print serigraphs on papers not compatible with many Giclée printers.
