Class Description
This 4-week course (4 Sundays) covers the main fundamentals of motorcycle maintenance and repair. It takes a front-to-rear wheel approach, exploring all the systems that comprise a motorcycle. The course is hands-on, combining theory with practical labs. Theory will be thoroughly discussed and broken down in layman's terms for everyone to understand. Key Learning Objectives: -Analyze faults and approach problems systematically -Learn good work practices to stay organized -Work with specialized tools and identify parts using diagrams -Understand how to negotiate with dealers for better prices Class Details: -Limited to 12 people for facility limitations and one-to-one interaction -Course notes, lectures, and labs provided -Each class is a standalone workshop covering a specific topic -Pre-registration required Instructor Experience: -Servicing bikes and watercraft for 20+ years -Material carefully broken down for all skill levels -Taught this class for 5 years with hundreds of successful students -Worked as a movie prop fabricator in metal, plastic, and wood fabrication -Consultations available during and after the class -Past student references available upon request Workshop Syllabus: 1st Session: -Tools of the trade -Safety issues -Organizing your work -Resources (books, forums, newsgroups, vendors) -Basic overview of motorcycle systems and subsystems -Engine design and basic theory (4 strokes, bottom end, top end) -How to think like a mechanic 2nd Session -Fuel Systems: carbs, fuel injection, fault isolation, rebuilding, troubleshooting -Carb rebuild hands-on workshop (yours or mine) -Ignition system basics: fault analysis, in-depth theory and repair, reading spark plugs 3rd Session: -Carburetor tuning and adjusting -Exhaust systems -Cooling systems -Lubrication systems & oil changes 4th Session: -Clutch service -Brakes -Electrical service Added Benefits: -How to evaluate and buy a used bike -Fuel injection covered in a standalone workshop Registration: Classes fill up quickly; limited capacity Register directly with Gearheads Text or email for more info Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gearheadsworkshopdiy/ This class has been well-reviewed on Yelp and Google. https://www.yelp.com/biz/gearhead-workshops-harbor-city Note: If you miss a class, you can make it up in a future workshop.
